Drone Footage

There seems to be a lack of drone footage at the plant floating around the internet. So it was a good thing when my brother purchased a unit of his own! He has visited the plant with me twice before and was eager to go back, not just to get some good video but also because it is a wide open area that is prime territory for some flying. FAA regulations control where you can or cannot use a drone – and even if you can, your altitude is limited. Not just the plant, but this area of the SE side is not heavily populated so most of those regulations do not apply here.

It was set to be a very warm (near 80F) day and also a very windy (gusts of 30mph+) day. So we got started early and we arrived at the plant by around 830am. We started around the coal bunker and got some shots there, then moved north.

The trees make it difficult at times but at least the winds were low this early in the morning (it would have been impossible to fly at all a few hours later). We did some fly overs of the main office and some lateral pans around the storehouse and coal handling office.

With only a couple weeks of owning the drone (and only a couple days of use!) my brother was able to get some great angles that I have never seen. I am delighted to add this exclusive content to the site and I hope you enjoy it also!
